Apurvi Chandela is a champion competitive Indian shooting player in the 10m air rifle competition. Born into a family of sports enthusiasts, Apurvi Singh Chandela seemed almost destined for a life in some field of sports. Apurvi Chandela age was young when she became inspired to pursue shooting. Her original plan while in school was to become a sports journalist, but, after watching Abhinav Bindra, an Indian female shooter, win a gold medal in the Olympics, she restrained her sights.

When starting out her training, she had to travel three-quarters of an hour from home to a local shooting range, until the day her parents and uncle set up a shooting range in their basement. Throughout all this, she managed to maintain focus on her studies as well and graduated Delhi University in Sociology with honors. She began her professional training under Indian shooter Rakesh Manpat.

She started her professional training in shooting air rifle, in particular, under Stanislav Lapidus and Oleg Mikhailov, the latter being the National Team coach. After a bronze medal win in the state championships, she moved on to a decent performance on the junior national circuit before finally breaking through to the senior national level.

Among her latest accomplishments, Chandela was invited to represent her country in the Tokyo Olympics, held a year later, in , due to the COVID pandemic. Other sports she enjoys playing include cricket, football and basketball. In , Apurvi Singh Chandela took home her first international championship at the Intershoot Championships in the Netherlands; there, she won four medals in total, two each in Team and Individual events.
